In-Character Information

Name: Yosuke Hanamura
Game/Series: Persona 4
Teacher/Student/Other: Student
Canon Point: late February 2012, max S.Link with the Protagonist
Age: 17
Grade Level/Class Taught/Job: Junior / 11th grade
Dorm or Living Arrangement: DORMS PLOX

Personality:
Yosuke is a cheerful guy that likes to joke around a lot (but not to the point of how much Teddie does) and pretty laid back. His jokes, unlike Teddie's pretty stupid ones, come off a little mean at times and makes him look more of a jerk than anything. He's also a little clumsy when it comes to taking care of things, mainly his bicycle. Unfortunate things happen to other things as well (as seen with Chie's DVD), but that's not because he doesn't respect other people's things. Circumstances out of his control happen! Carelessness is definitely a big reason for why many of the things break as they are.

He's pretty social to a certain extent, probably just a wee bit less than how Yu gets around. Another difference is that he wouldn't actually open completely up to anyone else other than Yu. All the fears, insecurities, worries and deepest of the feelings are only known to Yu. Yu has been with him ever since the Inaba incidents started, and Yosuke probably wouldn't even be how he is now if Yu hadn't been around. Otherwise, you just see the cheerful, somewhat laid back guy who gets joked around a lot by others more than him giving out his jerkish jokes to others. He may probably show other emotions other than smiling and being a somewhat of a class clown to those closer to him, but he would never show sadness or cry in front of anyone other than Yu. He's not gay for him okay

If any, falling into love with another girl aside from Saki-senpai would be one fear he has. He may be playful and joke around with girls, but Yosuke would have a difficult time getting into a serious relationship with another person after having his heart betrayed by learning about Saki's inner feelings in the Mayonaka TV. He'd still have his cheerful facade on when interacting with others and he won't deny what his shadow self had spilled when it went berserk. It's something that's still difficult for him to overcome, and he only barely was able to admit to Yu just recently that he's not the complete "nice cheerful guy" he puts up.

He can't exactly handle things nicely when things are thrown out to him out of the blue. The first sight of Yu sticking his hand in? Yosuke got so freaked out that he almost pissed his pants. He does get caught up with the situation at times, and usually needs a voice of reason (hi Yu bro) to prevent him from doing anything regretful. When that voice of reason is not available, though, he's stuck in uncertainty and ends up being forced to go along with the flow (like what happened for Kings Game).

Yosuke can be attentive... if he tries. Being a normal teenage boy, he ends up using the skills that can enable him to get higher grades into elsewhere like video games. Coordinating swim suits for the girls? That's easily done. Acing a test on a midterm? Not so much. When the situation calls for it and he puts his mind into it, Yosuke does have some skill to accomplish many things.

Backstory:
http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Persona_4
http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Yosuke

Being the son of a father who worked a growing department store, Yosuke moved from the big city to the suburbs of Inaba half a year before Yu did. Moving from a busy place to out in the middle of nowhere gave him drastically less things to do, as well as less friends to hang out with. It was a bore, he didn't want to be there, but it was something that was out of his control. He coped with it by trying to be likeable by everyone, trying to now show any of the bad side to others.

And then six months later, when the new school year started, another transfer student moved into Inaba. At first, Yosuke didn't really pay attention, mostly because his nuts were in hell that day from crashing into a pole. There was also the talk about the murders too... He didn't talk to the new guy until a little later, when he was rescued from being stuck in a trash can from crashing into them again. Who would know a whole adventure would open up from talking to the guy?

But it did, and as they tried to look for clues in the TV they got to gain more comrades, those who grew to be really close friends. They went through a lot that year, having fun activities as well as going through drama as well. It seemed like the case was solved, and all that was left was the school year to end.

And then Kanji was expelled for missing too many classes. Kanji, why... And then shortly after that, Yu moved away due to his parents coming back from their business trip. It kind of left an empty feeling inside Yosuke as he watched them leave. Then his turn came. Having a profiting Junes branch, Yosuke's father was assigned to manage another store in a different city. Final Destination City? What kind of name was that? Yosuke didn't exactly have a say to it, since he couldn't just stay in Inaba and live on his own. Being an extremely large city, though, his parents figured it would be better if he went to a boarding school, and enrolled him into Smash Academy.

Anything Else?:
His Persona, Susano-O: Since the protagonist achieved rank 10 with the Magician Social Link with Yosuke, his persona, Jiraiya, changed to its ultimate form. You can associate Yosuke as a Red Mage kind of sorts, having both attack and support magic. He specializes in wind magic in both attack and support, as well as some healing magic (just not to the degree Yukiko can do). He also has some physical attacks he can use, too. His persona is pretty well-rounded with the skills it possesses.
Here's the skill set of what the persona can learn.

Through fighting the shadows in the Midnight Channel, Yosuke gained some ability to fight with "double-handed blunt weapons." When fighting on his own, he would use his Persona as a support to give him more agility while he uses his weapons to fight.

Yosuke almost always has his headphones around his neck. He's pretty into music, okay. When fighting, he usually listens to music.

Despite having lack of muscles, Yosuke is pretty flexible and agile to a certain extent. He can't hit hard, but he can avoid a lot of things, especially with his Persona's support.

He plays a guitar on his spare time.

Yosuke's family lives somewhere in Final Destination City, operating a Junes department store. You will most likely see the commercial running on TV. He goes to help out his parents' store on weekends.

In-Character 3rd person sample:
"Have a nice day!" He gave a bow as the customer left with their purchases. He gave a small sigh as he straightened up again, feeling a little tired at being so polite at all the customers that needed assistance.

What a pain.

He probably wouldn't have actually admitted to that before the whole incident started last year. After going through the year with so many things to do, he began to stop trying to act that "funny likeable guy" he tried to be when he first moved into Inaba. But he wasn't at Inaba anymore, and there were so many more people in this strange place. He shouldn't need to put his facade up anymore.

Habits were hard to break.

"...Wonder what everyone's doing right now." Yosuke thought out loud as he gazed up at the sky. He never expected he would miss the old little town when he had first moved to Inaba.

"Funny how I'm missing it a lot right now, though." His train of thought was put to a halt when a customer approached him.

"Welcome to Junes! What do you need help with?" Yosuke put on his usual smile as he greeted the person.
